Liberals Are Desperate-Demanding RCMP Investigation Into Conservative Government’s Dealings With Deceased Independent MP-Wife And Daughter Are Only Witnesses

February 29th, 20083 Comments

Wasn’t it just the other day Liberal leader Stephane Dion was implying that he was prepared to do whatever it takes to make sure the federal government wasn’t brought down over the budget.

I’m sure I read somewhere (CBC.ca or CTV.ca perhaps) that Dion wasn’t going to bring down the Tory government, despite the advice he got from recent Order of Canada recipient Jean Chretien. It looks like he has another ace up his sleeve to bring down the Tory government.

Believing whether or not Dion was sincere when he made his statements about not toppling the government is another story, but if his party’s recent demand that the RCMP investigate allegations of bribery by the Tories as it relates to the now deceased and former Liberal MP Chuck Cadman is anything to go by, they must think they have found another way of toppling the government. And guess who is leading that charge, well it’s none other than Liberal justice critic Dominic Leblanc, the same MP who thinks Omar Khadr is a victim. That’s absolutely hilarious.

What really blows me away about this latest stunt is the fact that Chuck Cadman is dead, that if there was any attempt to bribe him, that secret went to the grave with him. He’ll never be able to answer any questions the RCMP might have for him now. How stupid does that make the Liberals look?

Of course the RCMP (who have a few of their own corruption issues to deal with) could ask Dona Cadman, the Conservative candidate for Surrey, British Columbia. But any answers she might have for them can be found in her soon to be released book “Like A Rock: The Chuck Cadman Story”. In her book claims her husband was offered a million-dollar life insurance policy two days before a critical vote on May 19, 2005, and I’m sure she provided some solid proof other than the words of dead man to back that up.

Funny she never came forward with that scandalous information before now and shortly before her book hits Canadian bookstore shelves. Even funnier, she’s a Conservative. I bet sales of her book go through the roof and every Liberal MP buys a copy unless of course they are gifted with one.

As for Dominic Leblanc, he seems to be going out of his way to cause the Conservative government misery since his boss declared that his party wouldn’t topple PM Harper’s minority government over the budget, and since a report implied that the Conservatives would form a majority government if a federal election was held any time soon. Again I don’t recall where I read that (the Conservatives having the ability to form a majority government now), but if you doubt me on the latter, please feel free to do a Google search and get back to me if my information is wrong.

I recently fired off an email to the shadow justice minister(I also cc’d same to Ralph Goodale) regarding his alliance with two other opposition MPs, and their call for the release of Omar Khadr, and the fact that the three of them labelled the al-Qaeda and Taliban supporter a victim. I was looking for him to explain his sudden leap onto the “Free Omar Bandwagon” and why he waited until now to jump on that bandwagon, after all he has been an MP since 2000 (Khadr was captured in 2002). While he has read my email (according to my email tracker anyway) he has yet to respond.

Now I’m thinking to myself that I might have to fire off another email to him to ask him what exactly the point is of calling for an RCMP investigation into something that cannot be proven because the intended recipient of the alleged bribe is dead. I’d hate to clutter up his email inbox with questions from Crooked in Canada, but if that’s what it takes to get a straight answer from him, then so be it.

The only two people who are aware of the alleged bribe to the Independent MP (he used to be a Liberal didn’t he?-just kidding) are his wife and daughter. One is looking to boost sales of her book when it hits the street, and the other will back up anything mommy says if there is something in it for her.

As far as I’m concerned the both of them have something to gain by making such an allegation, whether it be fame, fortune or both.

I can’t see either one of the women making such damning allegations if there wasn’t something in it for them. I can’t see them risking the cancer stricken father and husband’s reputation as a solid politician unless they had something to gain.

It doesn’t make sense, and I’m highly suspicious of their motives. I don’t know who offered what to whom, or if in fact anything was offered at all, but an RCMP investigation isn’t change to any of that. What they have to go on is one dead witness, a widow who has book coming out, and a daughter who would back up her mother regardless of what she knew of the truth. That isn’t a lot to go on, and that’s where the investigation begins and ends. Like I said, I don’t see the point of wasting taxpayer’s money on something that can’t be proven one way or the other.

The bottom line is; other then Cadman’s wife and daughter, there is nobody else that can corroborate their claim, and therefore any investigation by the RCMP would be like I said, a waste of taxpayer’s money. Unless somebody else crawls out of the woodwork and makes the same allegation, and I highly doubt that would ever happen, the words of Dona Cadman aren’t enough to launch an RCMP investigation into the bribery claim

The Liberals need to find something more productive to do then attempt to bring down the Tories.
With this latest stunt by Dominic Leblanc I think it is pretty safe to say that he has way too much time on his hands. And to think he is going to get a 3.1 per cent pay raise on April Fool’s Day.

This latest attempt by Dion and Leblanc to paint the Conservatives as being as corrupt and immoral as the Liberals were under Paul Martin and Jean Chretien is pathetic, and I have no doubt in my mind that it is going to backfire on Dion and the Dionettes.

They are going to suffer when it comes to public opinion, especially if it turns out there is no evidence to back up the bribery allegations. They are putting what is left of their integrity and credibility on the line.

Canadians are not going to take too kindly to costly investigation that turns up nothing. The Liberals can ill afford to lose much more support if that were to be the case. They’re making a big mistake by playing the bribery card in my opinion.

The Liberals are on shaky ground if they think that by demanding the RCMP investigate such frivolous and nonsensical allegations, they are going to win any brownie points from the Canadian electorate. That is really dumb thinking on their part.

A party is only as strong and as smart as it’s leader. I don’t hold out much hope for the Liberals after this latest stunt.

    Sounds like
    A. Somebody’s running this story to drum up sales for this book on Chuck Cadman
    B. The whole story doesn’t make any sense, especially if Donna Cadman is running for the CPC in Surrey. Has she clarified her statement in that interview with the book’s author?
    C. The Liberals are flinging desperate mud because they have nothing else to go on, are impotent as an opposition, and are trying to cover up their own sordid past on political inducement. Has anybody said anything about Liberal officials visiting Cadman first, BEFORE CPC people did? Remember Gurmont Grewal? How one-sided this story is.

I smell a bunch of nonsensical sleaze.

I just read another article on the story.

This allegation came about a couple of years ago and then opposition leader responded to it. Interesting that Chuck Cadman backed him up, and did it on national TV a couple of days before he passed away.

About this alleged tape: the publisher of Dona’s book has it. It was made apparently while Harper and Dona had some sort of a meeting. The publisher is offering the tape at $500 a crack.

Also, it doesn’t make sense that Dona-who is running for the Conservatives in Surrey at the moment, would jeopardize her standing within the party. Maybe she is planning to cross the floor if she wins her seat in the by-election.

As for the life insurance policy-a 12 year old kid would know that given the advanced stages of Cadman’s cancer when the alleged offer took place, no insurance company in the world would have insured him.

I smell a rat, a very big one. While I could be wrong, the fact that this allegation arose almost, if not 3 years ago, and was already answered makes me very suspicious of the motivation of the Liberals and Dona herself if in fact she stands by the allegations.

I mentioned in the blog that Leblanc was leading the charge, but I can’t be so sure now.

This is some serious shit, and if it backfires on the Liberals, they are f**ked as far as being able to re-establish any of the credibility and integrity they lost due to the sponsorship scandal.

I don’t know all the facts but I’m having a tough time swallowing that this attempted bribery took place. I’m not saying the Conservatives are above doing such a thing (what party isn’t for that matter), but the timing of this, especially will the crucial confidence votes on the agenda, makes me skeptical and suspicious of the allegations.

    Like I said, I smell a rat.

I smell a nasty rat, too. Liberal officials visited Cadman before officials from the CPC did. What were the Liberals offering Chuck Cadman for his vote, and why haven’t we heard anything about that, yet? (Oh, right….’cause the Libs are always right and the MSM sheepishly follow Dion wherever he goes).
