This is pretty shameful by Canadian standards.
There are still 900,000 children in Canada who are living in poverty and the feds just blew off fifty mil to feed another country’s starving. The Conservatives and the opposition has some explaining to do. I say the opposition because 10 years ago the Liberals said they would do something about child poverty, and at the time they were kicked out of office, they still had done nothing. They sure didn’t mind spending taxpayer’s money on other country’s poor however. I wonder how much the Liberals spent on another country’s poor while negecting Canada’s own after they said they would do something about it.
Two years after the Liberals were kicked to the kerb, the Conservatives haven’t done jackshit about looking after Canada’s poor. What the f**k is up with that? They don’t mind throwing $50 million of taxpayer’s money somebody else’s way, but they to are neglecting Canada’s poor.
Anybody would think that if the feds are going to spend Canadian taxpayer money on humanitarian aid and relief, they should spend it in Canada first. Who does PM Stephen Harper think he is taking care of somebody else’s people before taking care of the people who helped elect him, and likely will again? What a f**king fool.
That $50m he took out of taxpayer funded coffers would have went a long way in helping out the nine hundred thousand children living in poverty in Canada.
That 900,000 should have been a helluva lot less before the feds gave away $50 million of taxpayer’s money to somebody else.
The Conservative government needs to get their priorities straight. While they might have anted up $5 million in aid for the Canadian Foodgrains Bank, the other $45 million went to the World Food Program where $10 million of that will be spent in Haiti.
Canada should come first Mr. Prime Minister.
