If brains were trains, then Conservative MP Gary Goodyear’s assistant Victoria van Eyk missed her’s after she inadvertently ordered a ticket for boss to attend a special screening of “Young People F**king”, a provocative movie abut the sex lives of young people.
People can make all the excuses they want as to how or why this happened, but it did, and as far as I’m concerned it showed a total lack of competence and intelligence on MS. van Eyk’s part and she should be kicked to the kerb.
I don’t have a problem with her purchasing tickets to view a pornographic movie on her own time, but somehow I don’t think that’s what happened, after all Goodyear’s name did get added to the guest list, and the only way that could have happened is if van Eyk told the ticket agent who she worked for and/or where she was placing her order from. It’s the only logical explanation I can up with.
If she had did it on her own time and away from the office, this would have never have happened, and van Eyk would likely still have her job.
I think Goodyear’s name ended up on the guest list because whomever van Eyk purchased the tickets from was aware that she worked for a government official, and/or Ms. van Eyk told the person taking the reservation that she was calling from the MP’s office. Either way, Goodyear’s name ended up on the guest list, and van Eyk is definitely a big part of the reason that that happened.
Whether she ordered the ticket for herself or somebody else is irrelevant, but the fact that the agent knew enough to add her employer’s name to the screening guest list in the first place indicates to me that van Eyk ordered her tickets while she was working on the Canadian taxpayer’s dime and time. If she wanted a ticket to see “Young People F**king” she should have bought a ticket on her own time, and not during office hours. It would have avoided a lot of embarrassment for her employer and herself if she had been that prudent when purchasing tickets to see a porn movie, if that’s what some want to describe the movie as.
Make no mistake about it, she deserves to be fired for her stupidity, and she’ll get no sympathy from me.
I’m sure she’ll survive, in fact I’m sure she’ll be able to cash in on her stupidity, and not have to work at all for a few months. Good on her if she can do that. I know I would try to cash in if I was in the position she finds herself in at the moment. Why not, it’s a good story. I wouldn’t be surprised if the producer’s of “Young People F**king” approach her to do some promotional work for the film, or something of that nature. What’s everybody else think?
The opposition MPs in the House of Commons are going to have a heyday with this, and as usual, nothing of any importance to Canadians and Canada will get done.

Softcore, romantic sex comedy, whatever anybody wants to call it, I don’t really care one way or the other. Canadian taxpayer’s funded the movie and it is a little explicit isn’t it, or have you seen it? I haven’t.
Nevertheless, this particular blog entry isn’t a debate about what kind of movie it is, it’s about the stupidity of one individual.
