Danny Williams is a Hothead, a Liability to Newfoundlanders-they just don’t know that yet

So what’s up with Newfoundland premier Danny Williams? Why since the day he took over the top job on that big giant rock in the Atlantic Ocean is the only thing he has been good for is playing games with Ottawa and creating controversy. There has not been a week gone by since Williams took over the province’s top job that he hasn’t been stomping around whining about this and that, accusing others of giving Newfies the shaft, and putting out fires within his own party.

Danny Williams has done shit for Newfoundlanders since he took office, and now with a federal election on the horizon, he is going out of his way to ensure that PM Stephen Harper’s conservative government isn’t re-elected. He isn’t doing the people whose best interests he is supposed to be looking out for any favours by publicly announcing he is going to do whatever he can from keeping Harper from being re-elected. Ottawa won’t go out of their way to negotiate with a provincial leader who thinks he can dictate the way things are going to be, and solely on his terms. Williams’s attitude when it comes to the federal government is a liability to Newfoundlanders.

If I didn’t know any better (actually I don’t), I would say Williams is suffering from some sort of brain damage, or a neurological disorder that prevents him from thinking rationally. There is something wrong inside Williams’s head, and whatever it is, it is causing him to act irrational, immature, and dictatorial. There are even some within his own party who have had enough of his antics.

Case in point, the accusation that he treatened Conservatives who work for PM Harper in Newfoundland and Labrador, an accusation he denies. Of course he denies it, does anybody believe he would ever admit to doing something like that?

It is time for Danny Williams to pack in his political career, and I suspect that before the next provincial election he won’t be the leader of his party. I have no doubt in mind that there are already few members within his own caucus who are plotting to replace him now. I don’t believe for one second that 43 of his 44 caucus members are backing him in his vendetta against the federal Tories. They may have led Williams to believe that they were backing him to save their jobs, but that’s about it, and I wouldn’t be surprised if some serious infighting occurs within his party before Canadians go to the polls.

Williams is nothing more than a serial pest in Ottawa. If it isn’t one thing with the premier, it’s another.

Williams spends far too much time bitching and complaining about how he thinks Ottawa is giving Newfoundlanders the shaft, and not enough time reaching out and mending fences with Ottawa, fences that wouldn’t have needed mending by the way if Williams had not got up on his high horse and tried to tell Ottawa how things were going to be. Everything battle Williams has had with Ottawa (almost every battle anyway) he has lost, and it isn’t because Ottawa pulled rank, it’s because he is an arrogant, pompous and obnoxious premier who hasn’t the foggiest idea of how to negotiate deals, nor how to make compromises.

He’s a lose cannon who stomps around Newfoundland as if he owns the bloody province and the people in it.

I can’t believe that he actually thinks he can influence the outcome of a federal election. How f**king arrogant and egotistical is that? The Conservatives don’t need Newfoundland to win the federal election (he has accused Harper of saying such a thing, and of course Harper denies it), and for Williams to think that the Tories can’t win without his provincial Tories support is a sign of how delusional he is when it comes to amount of influence he thinks he wields over his party, his people and the Newfoundland MPs in Ottawa.

He’s a moron and Newfoundlanders need to cut him loose. It’s time for a leader that spends less time fighting Ottawa and more time doing something more productive for the people of Newfoundland.

Between now and the next provincial election he will be replaced as the leader of his party, and if he’s half as smart as he is useless, he might want to retire before he is removed as leader of his party, if only to save himself from the shame and embarrassment when he is dumped by his party.

Williams denies he’s threatened Tories who do election work for Harper
