When I heard Caroline Kennedy was bucking for Hilary Clinton’s New York senate seat, the first thing that popped into my mind was that she had a lot of tits for throwing her bra into the political arena with little if any political experience.
After that thought passed I laughed while wondering where her political aspirations had come from all of sudden.
Caroline Kennedy a United States senator, no f**king way.
If the New York governor stuffs her in Hilary Clinton’s soon to be vacant senate seat, I would be very suspicious of his actions, and his motivation. I’d also call him stupid.
I really doubt that Gov. David Paterson believes Caroline Kennedy is the best person for the job, and therefore if he were to appoint JFK’s 51-year-old daughter to the senate, I wouldn’t be far off the mark to assume that somebody goaded him into appointing her, maybe shoved him into appointing Kennedy, that is of course if he does fill Clinton’s seat with Kennedy’s ass.
Rumour has it that that isn’t going to happen though, that Paterson is feeling pressure from a lot of “concerned voters” and some very pissed off New York politicians, movers and shakers who aren’t too pleased that Paterson is considering appointing Kennedy to the seat her slain uncle Robert F. Kennedy once held.
It would be foolish for the governor to make such a move when there are people who have thrown their hat into the ring who bring more to the table than the Kennedy last name, being a Harvard and Columbia educated lawyer, author and fundraiser.
Fran Drescher “The Nanny” isn’t one of those people by the way. I can’t believe she thinks she brings something to the table. The woman is a freaking whack job, and really damaged goods. She would bring a lot of baggage to Congress.
Paterson might also want to think about where Kennedy’s loyalties will lie if he does name her to the senate. Will she feel her first obligation is to him? I really doubt that myself given that Kennedy’s advisors have very tight close ties with Mayor Michael Bloomberg, and Kennedy is likely to feel more obligated to them anybody else. Those advisors will tell her jump for Mayor Bloomberg and she’ll ask how high.
Just so you know, Bloomberg and his supporters have been actively involved in lobbying for Kennedy’s appointment and that’s pissing off a lot of movers and shakers too. The only reason they are lobbying so hard is because they know that Kennedy can’t make the senatorial grade on her own merits.
If she can’t stand on her own two feet in lobbying for the senate seat herself, what makes anybody think she’ll be an effective and capable senator in Congress?
How much time did she spend with reporters in Syracuse making her case for the senatorial seat, thirty seconds wasn’t it? And what about in Buffalo, she only spent two minutes with reporters there too didn’t she, and she dodged some basic questions from the very people she hopes to serve, New Yorkers.
The Rochester Democrat and Chronicle, because her “tour” in Buffalo and Syracuse labelled her the “the drive-by visitor.”
A poll this week asked if Kennedy was qualified for the senate. She ended up with a 46 per cent approval rating and 36 per cent said they didn’t know enough to form an opinion, the latter coming as a result of the fact that Kennedy is not widely known in the political arena. In other words she is a nobody in the political arena. Her only connection to politics and Congress is her last name.
My advice to Paterson is to choose somebody who already knows their way around Congress, somebody that can jump right into the bullshit now.
Caroline Kennedy won’t be able to do that, and unfortunately with the national and state financial crisis being the way it is, Congress doesn’t have time to be breaking the “new person” in. Congress needs somebody who will have an immediate impact in Congress and Kennedy isn’t that person.
When I think of Kennedy as a senator now, the words “inept” and “useless” come to mind, not to mention “inexperienced,” “green,” “puppet,” “pushover,” “weak,” and “timid.” Those are adjectives an effective and capable senator can ill afford to be tagged with, and Kennedy can be stuck with all of the aforementioned adjectives. I hope Gov. Paterson recognizes that too.
She’s too weak and meek for the job. What else can I say?
If Caroline Kennedy wants to give politics ago perhaps she should use a little common sense and start from the bottom of the ladder, like in the municipal political arena.
Maybe she should run for council woman before she sets her sights on a congressional seat. The other thing is that she shouldn’t assume that just because she carries the Kennedy name that it is her God given right to be handed any political position she asks for. It makes her come across as being arrogant and holier-than-thou, something I think New Yorkers are getting a little tired of when it comes to their representatives in government.
Caroline Kennedy isn’t ready to be a senator just yet, but don’t let that stop her from cashing in on the Kennedy name to fill Hilary Rodham Clinton‘s seat when the latter is sworn in as Barack Obama’s Secretary of State.
