It’s not often that Crooked in Canada publishes an article about a cute news story, but today I can’t resist publishing something about the story of three German children who were nabbed by police before boarding a train bound for Africa where 6-year-old Mika and his 7-year-old fiancée Anna Bell were eloping for a wedding ceremony on the beach. Mika’s sister, 5-year-old Anna Lena was the third child.
According to Mika he got the idea for a romantic elopement when he was telling his sister and his girlfriend about a recent holiday in Italy, and on New Year’s Day while their parents were sleeping they snuck out of their house in Hanover and took a tram to the train station.
While waiting for the train the three children sparked the curiosity of a guard patrolling the train station because the kids were wearing their “fun in the sun” holiday gear and looked suspicious with three suitcases filled with food, swimming costumes, a lilo and sunglasses, but no adult supervision. He alerted police immediately.
The police were able to convince the two young lovers that without money and a plane ticket they would have a hard time getting to Africa, and with that the three children, swimming gear and all, were bundled off and returned safely to their home.
I don’t know about the rest of my Crooked in Canada readers but this story goes to show just how brave small children can be.
Without a care in the world Mika, Anna Bell and Anna-Lena showed no fear if following their dream, that dream of getting married on a beach, and living happily ever after. Their story is too cool and I hope when the are old enough to follow the dream that an observant guard and two gentle police officers who were only looking out for the children’s best interests, they make their dream come true, that is if Mika and Anna Bell’s relationship last that long.
