Somebody in the Sikh community please explain to me where they get off demanding that they be allowed to wear turbans and grow beards while serving in the U.S. army. Indulge me, and make a better argument than just saying “It’s my religious right” to wear a turban, or grow a beard while serving.
What a bunch of effing BS.
Give the Sikhs an inch, and they take a mile, and for me if that doesn’t smack of arrogance, I don’t know what does.
If Sikhs who enlist can’t play by the rules, or don’t want to play by the rules (more like it), then they obviously are going to have disruptive disciplinarian issues, something of which no army can afford to take on, not if they expect to win wars anyway.
Maybe recruiters should overlook Sikhs when it comes to recruitment drives, and just make do with the civilian pool they can draw from, because as far as I’m concerned anybody who is going to play such a trivial game isn’t army material anyway.
Next think you know, Native American Indians will be demanding that they be allowed to wear their headdress and put on war paint before going into battle. Wouldn’t that turn the battlefield into a circus?
I don’t know about you, but I’m getting a little tired of the arrogance of others who seek to upset the balance between war and religion merely for the sake of doing so.
Yeah that’s right, I’m saying that the Sikhs are making a big issue out of this because they can, and that their motives have nothing to do with anything but arrogance, and their holier-than-thou attitude. Its not about religion, it’s because they can.
I wonder how long it will be before American-Muslims will want to wear their robes and their veils when serving in the U.S. army. Wouldn’t that be something? How would you know who the enemy was on the battlefield if that were to happen?
The Sikhs need to wrap their heads around the idea that there are some things that are simply out of bounds, like changing the “military code” to sate their craving for arrogance.
Being allowed to wear a turban and grow beards because of their religion…Get effing real man!
