Government Communications: Crooked in Canada Finds Another Reply in His Inbox

For the second time in as many days, a Liberal MP replied to my email, but the MP’s assistant ASSURED ME that the email would be brought to the attention of the SERVING MP. Thanks Anne Cleary in Lachine.

Like that’s going to happen. Oh well.

You know what though, somebody in MP Jennings office is thinking about what I said, and that is good enough for me.

Letter from Marlene Jennings ASSISTANT:

Subject: RE: A time for change

Parliamentary Assistant to the Hon. Marlene Jennings, P.C., M.P.
Notre-Dame-de-Grâce – Lachine

So what’s that now, only Gurbax Singh and Marlene Jennings office assistants have taken the time to reply to my email. Aah, it hasn’t been a week yet…I’ll wait and see what happens by then.

And before I forget, a few public servants earned their taxpayer-funded paycheques in 2005, and in recognition of their bravery back then, the Governor-General is awarding them bravery medals.  No word on if a pay rise comes with that medal, but thanks for being hero anyway.

Wandering off topic a little…

I received and email alert from the RCMP. Yeah I subscribe to that one too.

It was about the very bravery awards I was just talking about. I followed the link in that email back to the RCMP’s web site. What do you want to bet that they have my IP number, and if they don’t have my Australian address, somebody in Canada does? They don’t need a law for that do they?

Dumb Conservative legislators trying to invade more of our privacy. What little there is of it on the Internet anyway,

I have a lot of friends I keep in touch with online, and I’m sure one or two of them have my street address here in  Oz, and then of course federal immigration officials could easily get [it] from an Australian immigration office, if authorities needed to track me down.

Yeah, like they really need more resources to keep up to us, or the bad people online. Just follow the footprints we leave online in our lives boys and girls.

That’s all they have to do. Law enforcement doesn’t need a law enacted to allow them to do what they are already doing. They just need a badge, and suspicion.

Most Internet Service Providers, in fact all of them should have by now, have the ways and means to do for law enforcement what the bill proposes. A cop with a badge will do the trick, and service providers will co-operate with investigations.

Furthermore, if they actually got off their asses, and out of the donut and coffee shops, and do some DOOR KNOCKING, they wouldn’t have to have new legislation to help them our with their investigation, if it isn’t a vindictive one.

Giving law enforcement more power as it relates to the Internet is all good when it comes to crime fighting, but what is law enforcement going to do if one of their own decides that a witch hunt will smoke the bad guys out. What laws are they going to pass to protect Internet users from that kind of thing? Probably none huh?

This law, should it make through the House and Senate, will just make cops lazier and fatter too.

The Justice Minister and the Public Safety Minister’s piece of legislation is BS, and I think you will find that a lot of Canadians agree with one another one on that.

I wasn’t too bothered by the announcement of that ridiculous piece of legislation when I heard it, but after clearing out my inbox, I was left with little doubt in my mind that giving that much power to Canadian law enforcement agencies and whoever else “the bill” will help out in their “witch hunt,” is just wrong. My opinion, maybe not yours.

I can’t say whether the bill is going to pass or not, but it shouldn’t, and I hope for Canadians it doesn’t.   I wonder how many Canadian senators owe the Conservative Party of Canada a favour by the way.

From the RCMP web site:

RCMP member to receive Decoration for Bravery

OTTAWA – Friday, June 19, 2009 – Today, Her Excellency the Right Honourable Michaëlle Jean, Governor General of Canada, will be honouring a police officer from the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) for an act of bravery.

The Star of Courage will be presented to RCMP Cst. Timothy Dunlap of “K” Division for his efforts to warn and evacuate residents of a townhouse project during a massive residential fire on August 30, 2005, in Airdrie, Alberta. Off-duty Calgary Police Services Sgt. Paul David Phee, who joined Cst. Dunlap in alerting and evacuating residents, is also receiving the Star of Courage.

These officers, along with several other members of Canadian police forces, emergency personnel and civilians, are being presented with Bravery Decorations in a ceremony at Rideau Hall.

“I congratulate Cst. Dunlap and all the recipients of this prestigious Canadian national honour. These men and women have selflessly put themselves at risk in order to serve and protect others,” says RCMP Commissioner William J.S. Elliott.

The Canadian Bravery Decorations recognize individuals who have gone above and beyond the call of duty by risking their lives to try to save or protect others. The Decorations were created by Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II in 1972. Information about the Bravery Decorations as well as the summary of incidents can be found on the Governor General’s website.
