Crooked in Canada

I met up with a few professional hockey players back in the day. I met Colin Paterson. I had a beer with Wally Weir. I served Dale Hunter a beer or two before he became the lunatic he became. I served Clint Malarchuk a few beers. My grandparents lived down the street from Johnny Bauer. Worked a charity gig or two with Theoren Fleury. Played touch football with a few other former Calgary Flames whose names slip my mind at the moment, but it was a fun game played with the kids from the school at the Alberta Children’s Hospital.

Oh yeah, and I met Mike Vernon too. That boy loved to chase women, but marriage took the wind out of those sails.

I have met so many NHL players that I can’t even remember half of them, but the last one I met was a Sundridge lad who played for the Colorado Avalanche the last year they won the Stanley Cup. His name was Greg deVries, a utility defenseman who earns his paycheck game in and game out.

All of the players I have met were pretty decent guys, the kind of guys who wouldn’t quibble about being short-changed a few cents by a cab driver, if the cab driver didn’t have any more change. These guys were making a shitload of money so why should they care about 20 cents change a cabbie didn’t have.

The same can’t be said for that dickhead Chicago Blackhawk Patrick Kane when his cab driver didn’t have the 20 cents change. He along with his cousin James beat the shit out of the cab driver, and now they are both facing assault charges. Seriously Patrick, over twenty-cents?

How much of a paycheck do you earn whether you play a full season or not Kane? I bet its seven or 8 times more than that cabbie  you kicked the shit out of makes in a year. You are definitely a force to be reckoned with tough guy. God save the kid at that lemonade stand who doesn’t have the right change to give back to you when you put your hand out.

By the way, Kane earned $US875,000.00 last season. Woohoo, that twenty cents he beat the shit out of the cabbie for must have been the last of that paycheck huh?

I tell you what, last year’s Rookie of the Year is coming across as quite the f**king retard, and cheap skate, and you can bet there are going to be a few grizzled veterans on the ice next season who are going to be more than willing to tune that boy in, especially the ones who have friends and family who are cabbies.

The cab driver suffered cuts to face and his glasses were broken during the beating. Both Kane and his cousin have been charged with felony robbery and misdemeanor counts of thefts of services and criminal mischief. Kane was in court this past Sunday to answer to his charges and he pleaded not guilty.

Not guilty my f**king ass. He did it there is no doubt in my mind about that, but he needed help to do it, and I suspect that when all is said and done in this criminal case, his cousin James is going to take the hit for this one and Kane is going to skate.

One other ridiculous aspect of this story is Kane’s lawyer claiming that this case is being blown out of proportion. I guess what he is saying is that two men beating the shit out of cab driver for twenty-cents when one of them is making close to a million-dollars a year is acceptable, that any professional athlete who beats the shit out anybody for pocket change should get a free pass.

Andrew LoTempio sounds like a swell kind a guy, you know that of the cement-head kind.  What a f**king tool. An assault is an assault, whether it is committed by a professional athlete, a bum off the street, a deranged housewife or husband, or anybody else. Maybe somebody ought to hang a beating on LoTempio. I am sure he is easy to find in Chicago. He would be the guy with the word “dickhead” tattooed across his forehead.
