Hey again Steve,

Assuming that this is the first of a few boat loads of Tamils that is intercepted by Canadian authorities, Canada is on the cusp of yet more Tamil protests. Not only that, it is almost without a doubt that among those asylum seekers, there will be some LTTE with them. Canada needs to be concerned, giving that a) it has the highest concentration of Tamil nationals (some of whom were pretending to be refugees when they arrived) in the world, not to mention Canada was and likely still is, a base for LTTE, i.e., fundraising. Bringing SL intelligence, wouldn't take much of an effort. I imagine that there already are operatives within the Tamil community. Canada (the Liberals) would have been stupid not to plant some of them into that community way back when they opened up the floodgates to Tamil refugees. Canada would never admit to that of course, but when it comes to national security, that option would have and should have been on the table when the government started taking the Tamils in.

I hear Canada is in trouble with the boat load of Tamils near Vancouver. By "trouble" i mean thinking twice whether to let Military Intelligence from SL have a crack at them. I don't see why not?
In fact our guys would not need to touch them at all, the mere site of our lads will make them spill all beans.

Hey Steve,

The asylum seekers aren't going to win this battle, at least not here in Australia they aren't. There are far more anti-asylum seekers in this country than there are pro ones, and at the end of the day, Rudd's government (if he wants to remain in power anyway) is going listen to the anti side. What people don't realize is that here in Australia, tolerance when it comes to immigrants not assimilating (Muslims a perfect example of that 'failure to assimilate thing' and of course terrorism fears) is what is driving Australians to say, "Like enough already." Throw Tamils into the fray, some of whom you just know would be more than willing to strap on a suicide bomb vest her in Australia, and well Australians are like "Get the f*** out of here."

In Indonesia, news that asylum seekers have been living in Indonesia isn't going to come as a surprise to anybody here, if only because of the mini docos and the news coverage that made mention of that a while back. It's not just the Tamils either. There are Iraqis and Afghans who have been in Indonesia for a while too, waiting to sneak into Australia.

IT'S been revealed that most of the Sri Lankan asylum seekers in a standoff with Australian authorities off Indonesia's Bintan Island have admitted living in Indonesia for years, providing the Rudd Government with leverage to convince Indonesia to take them back.
